Event Submission Criteria
The purpose of the calendar of events is to share public events that would be of interest to out-of-town visitors to Cumberland County. Before submitting your event(s), please review these criteria:
1. The event is occurring at a venue within Cumberland County, NC.
2. The event is open to the public.
3. The event would be of interest to an out-of-town visitor.
4. The event is not religious or political in nature.
5. The event is designed for a specific/unique purpose like workshops, retreats, special guest appearances, or celebrations, differing from the routine instruction of a class.
Please note: Business-focused events such as networking breakfasts, trade meetings, or industry-specific conferences will not be included unless they are part of a larger public festival, expo, or visitor-focused experience.
If your event does not meet all four of the above-listed criteria, we will be unable to post it on our calendar.
Events may be denied at the discretion of DistiNCtly Fayetteville staff discretion.
Image Requirements
- Only use high-resolution images. Low-quality images or low-resolution images that are provided at a size not large enough for the website should not be used.
- Use aspect ratio 3:2. Images provided at the incorrect aspect ratio, e.g., a vertical image is provided for horizontal display. The aspect ratio can be fixed by the FACVB some of the time.
- Do not use images containing text.
- Do not use any type of logo, a logo does not represent the event nor is it compelling to the viewer.
- Do not use screenshots or images of posters or flyers or document attachments. Images of posters (and text) are not legible on smaller sizes like smartphones and images containing text do also do not comply with federal website accessibility requirements and we do not have fields for alternate texts to make them comply.
- Do not use images that are clearly copyrighted or subject to copyright and written or verbal permission have not been provided for online use.

FAQ
What is this form for?
This form is for submitting public events to the DistiNCtly Fayetteville Calendar of Events, so visitors can discover things happening in Cumberland County.
What events are eligible to be posted?
Events must meet these basics:
- The event takes place at a venue within Cumberland County, NC.
- The event is open to the public.
- The event would be of interest to an out-of-town visitor.
- The event is not religious or political in nature.
- The event is designed for a specific or unique purpose (examples: workshops, retreats, special guest appearances, celebrations) rather than routine class instruction.
Are business-focused events allowed?
Business-focused events (examples: networking breakfasts, trade meetings, industry-specific conferences) are typically not included unless they are part of a larger public festival, expo, or visitor-focused experience.
Why might an event be denied?
If an event does not meet the submission criteria, it may be declined. Events may also be denied at the discretion of DistiNCtly Fayetteville staff.
What images should I upload?
For best results, upload high-resolution images that are sized for web display.
- Use a 3:2 aspect ratio when possible.
- Avoid images that contain text.
- Avoid logos (a logo does not represent the event and is not compelling to viewers).
- Do not upload screenshots, flyers, posters, or document attachments.
- Do not upload copyrighted images unless you have permission for online use.
Can I use a vertical poster or flyer as my event image?
We recommend avoiding posters, flyers, and screenshots because text is often hard to read on mobile and images with text can create accessibility issues. A clean photo that represents the experience works best.
Do I need permission to use the photos I upload?
Yes. By submitting images, you confirm you have the necessary permissions to use them and that the content is not likely to defame anyone or invade privacy. You also agree to indemnify and hold harmless the Fayetteville Area CVB and its affiliates related to the submitted materials.
How will the CVB use my uploaded images?
By submitting media files, you grant the Fayetteville Area CVB the right to reproduce and publish the files, including use in marketing materials such as the website and social media.
How do recurring events work (daily, weekly, monthly)?
Use the recurrence options on the form (One Day, Daily, Weekly, Monthly, Yearly, or Custom) to match your schedule. Make sure your start date, end date, and times reflect the full range of dates you want displayed.
Who should I contact if I have questions or need help?
Use the Comments field in the form to add context for our team or contact us through the site contact options if you need support with eligibility, images, or edits after submission.
