Fayetteville, NC –   G. Yamazawa, a National Poetry Slam Champion and L.A.-based rapper, is to perform as a part of the event festivities planned for Fayetteville’s 1st Annual Adult Field Day on August 11. Yamazawa’s debut album, Shouts to Durham, charted at #37 on iTunes’ “Top 100 Rap Albums.” He recently completed a multi-city tour of North America and is working on a sophomore album.

Our P.L.A.C.E., a local nonprofit organization, is recruiting up to 40 coed teams to compete in ten events over the course of Adult Field Day, with the goal of “unit[ing] communities through activities, food, fun, and music.” The list of planned Field Day games includes Tug of War, Sack Relay Race, Three-Legged Race, Balloon Toss, Memory Game, Giant Jenga, Corn Hole, Giant Bucket Pong, Sponge Relay with Flippers, and Sprint Relay.

Spectators are welcome at this family-friendly event, and admission is free for them. In addition to the games, there will be vendors, food trucks, and kids’ activities—all culminating with performances featuring local artists and headlined by G. Yamazawa.

Our P.L.A.C.E. has played a crucial role in bringing the Southern Fried Poetry Slam to Fayetteville, NC, in 2019, and their stated goal is to use funds raised by Adult Field Day to help fund the multi-day poetry slam, as well as other causes related to community service and the arts.
