Cumberland County, NC – At the end of the third quarter of the 17/18 fiscal year, the Fayetteville Area Convention & Visitors Bureau (FACVB) secured 62 future meetings, tournaments and group tours for Cumberland County in the coming months and years. These events, which represent 8,460 room nights at county hotels, will impact Cumberland County’s economy by $4.35 million.      

Additionally, the FACVB team:

  • Attended 17 trade shows where staff made 288 contacts with planners and event organizers. The sales team also generated 146 leads for future meetings, tournament and group business. These leads represent 34,993 room nights at area hotels and an economic impact of $48.4 million
  • Handled 7,590 inquiries at three visitor centers, distributed 39,922 Fayetteville Area Visitor Guides and fulfilled 187 group service requests.
  • Launched Heroes Homecoming VI with Cumberland County municipalities and other partners.  The 2018 event will recognize all veterans with the theme “100 Years of Service.”
  • Issued 24 press releases, facilitated 10 travel writer visits and secured 147 pieces of publicity in travel and local media.
  • Created and organized Fayetteville NC Bloggers networking group. Qualified and recruited 17 members. Held two meet-ups, resulting in 100+ social media mentions/results, and 16 blogs/vlogs about the area.  The group’s collective audience is over 250,000.
  • In conjunction with #NCBeerMonth, introduced the Hometown Hops beer trail promotion. The promotion features each of Cumberland County’s five breweries. For more information, visit
