Fayetteville, NC - Randy Fiveash was named the Interim President and CEO of the Fayetteville Area Convention and Visitors Bureau (FACVB) in May 2021. He was previously the Director of the Connecticut Office of Tourism, appointed to that position, in November 2008.

Fiveash has over 40 years of proven leadership experience, in the tourism and hospitality industry, association management, strategic planning, and destination branding, with additional emphasis in organizational and marketing development and management.

Taking on the leadership role of the FACVB, at a time of transition and rebuilding, Fiveash comes out of a “planned retirement” to lead and direct, strategic planning and the execution of research-based marketing, sales and public relations. All his, and the Bureau’s Team’s, efforts will be focused on the development of a respected, focused, community-based marketing organization, whose sole emphasis is on the growth of the economic health and quality of life of Fayetteville and Cumberland County, while ensuring the valuable positive experience of the visitor and visitor industry members alike. Fiveash will; additionally, focus on building and maintaining community partnerships with business, organization and governmental entities and leaders.

As Connecticut’s Tourism Director, Fiveash was responsible for leading the state’s annual multi-million-dollar statewide tourism marketing budget, strategic planning and development efforts — all focused on driving economic growth through the tourism industry. Working in partnership with Connecticut’s business and legislative community, he provided leadership in positioning the state to encourage strategic investment and ensure that Connecticut was a prime destination for leisure and business travelers. He led the team responsible for tourism and statewide destination branding.

Prior to becoming Connecticut’s Director of Tourism, Fiveash served as Commissioner of Tourism for the Commonwealth of Kentucky. Working with the Governor and Secretary of the Cabinet, Fiveash led the successful, research-based “Kentucky Unbridled Spirit” state branding effort for Kentucky, with legislative, citizen and industry support and involvement.

Fiveash has also served as Executive Director of the National Tourism Foundation and served in CEO positions of Convention and Visitor Bureaus in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, Arlington, Texas, Gatlinburg, Tennessee and Branson, Missouri.

Fiveash was a Delegate to the White House Conference on Travel and Tourism and has served in leadership positions on the Boards of the Destinations International, Travel South USA, South Carolina, Tennessee and Missouri Convention and Visitor Bureau Associations, the Southeast Tourism Society, National Tourism Foundation and the Mississippi River Development Association, Discover New England, among others.

Randy is originally from Macon, Georgia and is a graduate of Mercer University, with a Master’s from Central Connecticut State University. He is married to his wife, Shari, and together, within their blended family, they have five children, spread from Studio City, California to New York City and points in between, and two beautiful granddaughters.
