Fayetteville, NC –  While Fayetteville and Cumberland County offer traditional fun Halloween fare - full of Zombies and spooky stories – there’s plenty of non-traditional events to help mark the Halloween season.   Visit just a few events and, chances are, you’ll enjoy the outdoors and explore some of Cumberland County’s gems.  Below we’ve provide a few highlights. Through November 13 / 1897 Poe House Dressed in Mourning

Visitors on regularly scheduled tours of the Poe House will see a wake scene in the parlor, crepe-covered mirrors, floral offerings, and other mourning traditions typical of an upper-middle class home during the 1910s.  www.MuseumoftheCapeFear.ncdcr.gov

Weekends Throughout October / Stoney Point Trail of Terror

October 14-15 / Ole Mill Days

Hope Mills celebrates its heritage as a mill community with a street dance, tractor pull, mill workers reunion, haunted house, vendors and live entertainment.  www.TownofHopeMills.com

October 15 / Fall Spooktacular! From the Fayetteville Symphony

Fayetteville Symphony Orchestra's new season kicks off with this special Halloween program for the entire family, led by Guest Conductor Al Sturgis--conductor of the Tar River Orchestra, Carolina Ballet, and the North Carolina Master Chorale. October 21/ Night at the Airborne & Special Operations Museum

The Airborne & Special Operations Museum hosts families for a free evening of fun. While guides will take visitors through the museum gallery by flashlight, other activities - games, candy, bounce houses, face painting and a costume contest - happen in the garden area. www.asomf.org

October 22 / Spring Lake Fall Festival

October 22/ Zombie Boat Cruise

October 26-28 / Halloween Revels: Night Tours of the 1897 Poe House

Actors with the Gilbert Theater portray members of the Poe household as they remember the life and death of Dixie Poe Sutton. These evening tours give visitors a chance to encounter customs and traditions from the past. www.MuseumOfTheCapeFear.ncdcr.gov

October 28 / Halloween at the Boo-tanical Garden

Families are encouraged to walk the pathways of the Garden, lit by carved jack-o-lanterns, lights and luminaries in celebration of Halloween. Hands-on crafts, treats and candy add to the indoor and outdoor activities. www.CapeFearBG.org

October 28 / Zombie Walk

Not to be missed! Thousands of zombies converge on downtown Fayetteville for this annual parade. The Zombie walk is part of Fourth Friday, a monthly art crawl in downtown Fayetteville.
